With this activity the feast of the Virgin of Candelaria is initiated; on this day many people from various communities in the Puno region, come and dance their dances of their people in honor of the Virgin of Candelaria.

Where to see?

The event starts very early, from 6am with the participation at the local stadium of Puno until afternoon about 6pm.

How do I buy my tickets?

Tickets are sold the same day from 4am in the stadium box office, sometimes often sell the day before, but we can ensure the sell of tickets, within 1 week before the event.

The most common is that people buy tickets the day of the event, the ticket value ranges between 20 to 50 soles, depending on the location of seats: south, east, west and north.

Description:

It is celebrated with a mass that occurs in the San Juan Church, located in the Pino park in the city of Puno. Where to buy tickets?

If you have missed tickets, do not worry, usually the local people (including me), we are able to find somewhere outside the stadium and watch the dancers in the streets of Puno, it's free and you can move around with ease.

Cautions

At this time many thieves of houses and pockets come to Puno. Whenever you are on the street put your phones/wallet in front pockets. After these hours it is common to see drunk people urinating in the streets or in prohibited places. Try to take advantage from morning until evening to see, then we recommend to be careful.

The start time is usually between 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Ending the next day to average 1 in the morning.

Location:

The parade route begins at the bus station, following the. Costanera Av., turning left to get Lampa st. then to reach La Torre av.

Once in the central market of La Torre av., then will go to Pino Park and continue to the Plaza de Armas where will be the end of the parade.

Tips

Try going to the Costanera av. or La Torre Av. These avenues are places where you can better appreciate the dance of the dancers.
If your budget is low; buy a small portable chair (S / 15 Soles) Find an empty place and be ready to enjoy the party. It's what we usually do.

Precautions

Whenever you are on the street put your phones/wallet in front pockets. Never be so late in the streets, we recommend not to be more than 10pm in some central areas of the city. After these hours it is common to see drunk people urinating in the streets or in prohibited places. Try to take advantage from morning until evening to see, then we recommend to be careful.

Beware of people who can throw something to you, or spit in the face or throw water/spray, these are some techniques to remove the phone or wallet.

Always walk with caution, avoid using headphones, this show thieves where you have your phone.

Chairs or boxes:

It is common for neighbors or local people draw many chairs on the route of the parade to sell these places and you enjoy better the show.
