COLCA CANYON
AREQUIPA to CHIVAY / COLCA CANYON / AREQUIPA
From 2:40 am our transportation passes through the different hotels to start our trip to one of the deepest canyons in the world, taking the road of Yura, bordering the snowy Chachani toward Pampa Cañahuas (National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas) habitat of the beautiful South American camelids the vicunas. In the marshes of Tocra we will see variety of migratory birds, including flamingos. We will pass by the crater of an extinct volcano (Chucura). We stop at the “Mirador de los Volcanes”, which is also the highest point of the road (4,910 m.a.s.l.) from where we will see much of the western mountains. Approximately 7:00 hours to 7:30 to arrive at the village of Chivay; then we will go to the “Mirador de la Cruz del Condor”, a strategic point of observation Canyon and the spectacular flight of the Condor. Return we stop in the villages of Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque which have beautiful colonial churches. From the viewpoints of Choquetico and Antahuilque observe the impressive terraces of the valley, the pre-Inca tombs and a pre-Inca model of the area carved in stone.
We’ll enjoy the thermal baths in La Calera whose thermal-medicinal waters range from 35º to 38º (degrees Celsius) temperature in which we will stay approximately 1 hour, we returned to the town of Chivay we will have lunch and we returned to the city of Arequipa where we arrive at approximately 05:30 p.m.
