Moray:

Undoubtedly one of the most admirable places on the route of the Sacred Valley is Moray, an archaeological zone in which a system of terraces from the time of the Incas stands out, which is composed of terraces in the form of circles that makes it similar to that of a amphitheater that in some of the cases reach a height of 1.5 meters.

The technology of the terraces in the ancient farmers of the Inca era was to create what is now known as “Microclimates”, which was a way of preserving crops in times of frost or very cold weather. At the same time they allowed the irrigation in an equitable way in the irrigation of the crops.

The place is considered one of the first laboratories for the practice of agriculture, as it is known in Moray there are around 20 sectors that would have been used for different crops in the Inca period.

Now Moray is one of the main places to visit on the tour to the Sacred Valley.

Maras:

It is undoubtedly one of the places that has a peculiar attraction for its salt pools, they are located 4KM from Urubamba very close to the Vilcanota river also belonging to the route of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The salt evaporation pools are mentioned to have existed since the time of the Incas.

Currently there are more than 3,000 salt pools that have owners from nearby places who are in charge of maintaining each of the salt pools. The owners also make use of Salt to be able to market it in different places in Cusco.
